Maui is home to some of the most beautiful waterfalls in Hawaii. And while there are many ways to see them, the best way is by taking a road trip around the island. Here's a guide to help you find the best falls on Maui.
There are few drives as scenic and beautiful as the Hana Highway Route. This is especially true when you're looking for Maui waterfalls. The Hana Highway Route is home to some of the best falls on the island, and it's definitely worth taking a drive (or hike) to see them. Here are a few of our favorites
The Haleakala Highway Route is one of the most popular routes for Maui waterfall chasers. It's a scenic drive that takes you past some of the island's best falls, including Wailua Falls, Rainbow Falls, and Pe'epe'e Falls. To find the falls, simply follow the signs along the highway.
If you're looking for an unforgettable Maui waterfall experience, take the West Side Route (Route 30). This road trip will take you to some of the best falls on the island, including Wailua Falls, Honokohau Falls, and 'Ohe'o Gulch. Plus, there are plenty of other activities along the way, like hiking, swimming, and picnicking. So pack your bags and hit the road for an adventure you'll never forget!
Head to Maui's Upcountry region for some of the best waterfall views on the island. Route 340 winds through verdant pastures and quaint small towns, making for a scenic drive. Stop at one (or all!) of these waterfalls along the way:
Waihou Spring State Wayside Park,
Puaa Kaa State Wayside Park,
Maui Tropical Plantation,
Iao Valley State Monument, and
Wailuaiki Beach Park.
Heading north from Kahului, you'll find some of the best Maui waterfalls tucked away along Route 37. Make sure to stop at Waihee Ridge Trailhead for an easy hike to Waihee Falls. Further north, you can find Waikani Falls and 'Ohe'o Gulch, also known as Seven Sacred Pools. To get to these falls, take a left onto Route 378 and look for the signs.Route 377 will take you past Makamakaole falls and right to Wailua falls. Finally, make your way back down south on Route 376 and stop at Puohokamoa falls for one last Maui waterfall experience!
The South Shore Route of Maui is home to some of the most beautiful waterfalls on the island. To find these falls, take Route 380 to Hana and then turn onto Route 37. After a few miles, you'll come to a fork in the road. Take the left fork onto Route 362 and follow it until you reach Route 349. Turn left onto Route 349 and you'll find yourself at Wailua Falls.
